Wood & Bone
Unique, one of a kind art
My name is Greg Sewell and I started carving about 25 years ago. A 1941 Indian motorcycle that I carved took First Place at the Washington State Fair. I have carvings in the American Hop Museum in Toppenish, Washingtion. I’m also featured in It’s A Burl in Kerby, Oregon and Inscapes Gallery in Newport, Oregon.
I have carved everything from walking sticks(staffs), clocks with hops carved on them, vines with mirrors, faces, and wall hangings. I also have created a variety of wooden boxes with wooden hinges on them. I’ve worked with many types of wood, but here are the most commonly used types that I work with: Burl Maple, Buckeye, Olive, Redwood, Walnut, Apple (Relief Carving). I also carve on bone.
